Sir Syed Scholarship Project
Since the inception of the AMU ALUMNI (AUSTRALIA) the members had a keen desire to serve their Alma-Mater more than holding a formal Sir Syed Dinner once a year. The idea of giving scholarship to deserving students of the AMU had been hovering for a long time. It waited for someone to trigger it. As the number of Aligarians increased a little more, the Executive Committee launched the Scholarship Project in the AGM 1996 held on 19 October 1996. Sincere appeals were made in this AGM by some members and the audience was quiet moved. One immediate reaction was that a lady (She never wants her name to be declared) silently came forward and committed for Rs. 50,000 to one of the organisers. One guest (Aligarian) declared Rs. 10,000 for the Scholarship fund. Every member of the EXCO committed $50 per annum for the cause. It was a great encouragement. At present an amount A$25.00 per month is required per student generally for four years for professional studies. The donor can define the terms and conditions of the scholarship. We would appreciate if one person sponsors one student such that his/her studies are completed. Anyway any donation shall be highly appreciated and the reward shall be given by Allah (SWT).
