Flag hoisting ceremony in Canberra on the National day of Pakistan
To commemorate the
National Day of Pakistan, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at the High
Commission of Pakistan, Canberra at 0900 hours on 23 March, 2011. The ceremony
was attended by Pakistanis living in Canberra.
The ceremony started with the recitation of Holy Quran. After flag hoisting by
Acting High Commissioner, Mr. Tasawar Khan the messages of the President and the
Prime Minister to the nation on this auspicious occasion were read out by Mr.
Farooq Faridi. In his brief remarks the Acting High Commissioner highlighted the
importance of Pakistan Resolution and paid tribute to our forefather for their
immense sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. He said that although our
country is facing some serious challenges but in the presence of a vibrant civil
society, democratic institutions, independent judiciary, free press, the
Government and People of Pakistan will surmount these challenges with courage
and fortitude. He called on the community members to realize and fulfill their
individual responsibilities towards progress and economic development of
Pakistan. They were also urged to integrate and promote Pakistan’s image by
becoming better Australian citizens.
