Highlights Vital Role of Community Broadcasting
2MFM hosted the 2025 Community Broadcasting Symposium
in Chester Hill Sydney
2MFM – The Voice of the Muslim
Community – proudly hosted the 2025 Community Broadcasting Symposium on
Saturday, 31 May 2025 at Salamah College Community Hall in Chester Hill Sydney.
The symposium brought together an impressive gathering of community leaders,
broadcasters, representatives from the Community Broadcasting Association of
Australia (CBAA), the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF), and diverse
members of the Muslim Community.
The Hon. Charishma
Kaliyanda, MP for Liverpool, Hon. Lynda Voltz, MP for
Auburn and Mayor of Canterbury Bankstown CLR Bilal El Hayek was the main
speakers of the event who appreciated the Great Services of the 2MFM and congratulates
to the management, staff & Volunteers of the Radio station.
Under the theme "The Importance
of Community Broadcasting in Australia," the event underscored community
radio's essential role in fostering inclusion, celebrating diversity, and
empowering local communities. Keynote speeches celebrated 2MFM’s recent
achievements at the 2025 NEMBC Gala Awards in Melbourne, affirming the
station's dedication to excellence and its significant contributions to
community representation.
The symposium featured comprehensive workshops and roundtable discussions,
focusing specifically on seven strategically chosen topics:
• Engaging Our Diversity and Community
Involvement
• Religious content, production and delivery
• Youth Engagement, Representation & Need
• Women’s Voices in Community Radio
• Volunteer attraction and retention
• Multilingual Programming
• Digital Integration and On-Demand Content
Participants actively contributed
valuable insights during these sessions, which will directly inform 2MFM’s
forthcoming Community Action Plan.
"The symposium has provided us with clear directions and robust community
input, enabling us to continue enhancing our service," stated the
President of 2MFM. "Our focus remains firmly on reflecting the diverse and
dynamic voices of our community through innovative and inclusive
programming."
