Dear Friends,
We have recently set up an
organization aimed at the promotion of Punjab Love Legends. The Punjabi community
of both Pakistani and Indian origin is organizing a function to convey the Sufi
message of Love and Peace with the launch a set of 4 CDs of the most famous Love
Legend of Heer and Ranjha. The poetry for this legend was written by Waris Shah
and the songs are sung by Pakistani, Indian and Australian singers of Indo-Paki
origin. Dr.Sidhu offers a commentary on the story and introduces the songs.
Sufi poetry as written by Waris Shah is extraordinary and goes straight to the
heart. When it is set to the semi-classical music of the Indian Sub-Continent it
reaches such heights of beauty that it transcends all cultural and religious
differences. Each couplet of Sufi poetry carries a dual meaning: the ideas
expressed are applicable to both worldly love (Ishq-e-Majazi) and spiritual or
Godly love (Ishqe-e-Haqiqi). The vision of Poets such as Waris Shah is
ultimately based on Love in the hope of establishing a Utopian non- violent
society. The set of 4 CDs describes the intricacies of Love between Heer and
Ranjha but
skillfully embeds the story in a social context. In short, this is a timeless
and unique Love story with a Sufi message of Peace, Love and Harmony to people
everywhere.
You are cordially invited to attend the concert at the Concord Function
Centre.It will provide you with a unique opportunity not only to acquire a set
of 4 CDs, but also to hear local artists performing the classic legendary poetry
set to music. Tickets are limited and you are advised to get them as soon as
possible.
