President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf addressed a distinguished gathering organized by prestigious Asia Society at Sheraton Sydney on Thursday 16th June 2005. Mr Hugh Morgan, Chairman Asia Society welcomed the President of Pakistan, A Introduction of the President was given by Philip Aiken President BHP Billiton.
.After the official speech, two questions were asked about investment in Pakistan. Chief guest Pervez Musharraf Replied by saying "Now is the best opportunity to invest in Pakistan" General Pervez Musharraf expressed his firm resolve to defeat terrorism to ensure peace in the world. However, he urged the developed countries to help resolve political disputes and contribute in the socio-economic progress of the less developed countries to effectively deal with this menace.
General Pervez Musharraf said terrorism must be rejected and countered forcefully as it threatened to disrupt modern society. He emphasized that there is a need to address the root causes that lie in political disputes and deprivation and poverty that breed extremism. General Musharraf talked about the West, especially the United States to facilitate solution of problems that have caused deep sufferings and anger among the Muslims for many decades. He said the wealthy nations must fulfil their responsibilities towards millennium development goal for the uplift and development of the less developed countries.
