High Commissioner of Pakistan to Australia and New Zealand Mr Babar Wahid Malik, Deputy High Commissioner Mr Mohammad Sarfraz Khanzada and Consul General of Pakistan Sydney Mr Ejaz Ahmed are working late hours of long weekend to prepare for Musharraf’s visit to Australia. President of Pakistan is leaving Rawalpindi in a few hours to start a long journey to reach Australia. President General Pervez Musharraf will visit Australia and New Zealand, the first by a Pakistani Head of State, to identify new areas of cooperation and discuss bilateral cooperation. President Musharraf will pay state visits to Australia from June 13-16 and New Zealand from June 16-19 at the invitation of Governors General of the two countries. He will be accompanied by the First Lady Mrs. Sehba Musharraf, Minister for Industries and Production and Special Initiatives, Chairman Higher Education Commission, Chairman Export Promotion Bureau, senior officials, businessmen and media representatives. The visit aims at reinvigorating Pakistan's relations with the two countries by forging cooperation in economic, trade, agriculture, education, security and other fields. MoUs are expected to be signed to institutionalize cooperation of Agriculture and Counter Terrorism. The President's engagements in Australia include meeting with Governor General Maj. Gen (Retd). Michael Jeffery and Prime Minister John Howard. The President will also receive the leader of opposition Kim Beazley. The President's other engagements in Australia will include addresses to the Press Club in Canberra and Asia Society in Sydney and meeting with prominent businessmen and investors.
