Pakistan Independence Day Function in Hurstville, Sydney

Pakistan Association of Australia organised their annual Pakistan's Independence Day Function on Saturday, 20th August 2005 at Hurstville Civic Centre, Sydney. The function was attended by a large crowd of more than 600 Pakistanis living in Australia. The president of the Association Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Chaudhary appreciated the spirit of the community and suggested for unity. A group of local artists performed Ghazal, National Songs & a Comedy Skit about the Pakistani politicians and Army. There was many giveaway vouchers provided by the Pakistani Business Community. Mr. Rana Q Abbas of Rana Motors donated four DVD players for the raffle draw. The main prize for the raffle draw was a return ticket to Pakistan which was won by Mr. Ijaz Rao Son of Dr. Rao Irshad Khan. During the musical programme dinner was served which was prepared by Pehlwan Da Dhaba & Desi Hut Restaurant of Lakemba, Sydney. Mr Umar Ghani and Mr. Shakeel were the masters of ceremony. The Pakistan Association's program was continued until 1am of the next day. The Pakistan Association of Australia officially launched their newsletter and website at the function. The General Secretary of the Association Wajiha Ahmed announced that they are organising a Ferry Trip in November this year, the actual date will be confirmed through Sada-e-Watan and SBS Urdu Service. The Association presented a certificate of appreciation to all sponsors of the function.
