AGM and Elections of Pakistan Association of Australia

Elected President Ejaz Khan

Hafiz Shahid Iqbal Acting President PAA chaired meeting of the Pakistan Association of Australia. The AGM was held on 27th May 2007 at Auburn Sydney. The Trustees of PAA Ch Mohammad Hanif & Sufi Javed Iqbal were present along with executives and new members. It was noted that 78% members of PAA attended the meeting along with current executives and Trustees and cast their vote overwhelmingly.

The following motions were passed:
* Land Committee to be dissolved,
as Land was given to Pakistan community has now been withdrawn by the government and there is no need to have a land committee.
* New executive body was elected unopposed,

It was resolved that a position of a Trustee vacated by Riaz Malik as a result of his resignation be filled. Dr Akram Hassan was elected as Trustee. It is worth mentioning that the current Trustees Mr. Qalba Abbas Rana, Zain Sharif, Sufi Javed and Ch Hanif will complete their terms which will expire on 30 June 2008 as per constitution of the PAA.
Naseer Ahmed vice president (Youth) of PAA read out a statement highlighting the work carried out in their term. Hafiz Shahid Iqbal informed the AGM that he will hand over details of accounts, relevant documents, banners and correspondence to new committee very soon. The new committee will commence their work from 1 June 2007.

At the end Mr. Ejaz Khan thanked every one to elect him as President of Pakistan Association of Australia and promised to work for the welfare of the community along with his team. He appeal to Pakistani community to be more proactive and participate in local politics and build close relations with the mainstream Australian community to make them realise that we are peace lovers and respectable community wish to see peaceful and prosperous Australia. Meeting was closed and every one enjoyed a lavish dinner at Bundu Khan Restaurant in Auburn.
