Chinese Community Raised $70,000 for Pakistan



Sydney: The Australian Chinese Community Foundation (ACCF) raised around $70,000 at its 2nd Annual Dinner held here Friday at Mari Gold Chinese Restaurant. Approximately 700 Australian Chinese attended the 5-Course dinner.
President Pakistan Australia Association Ejaz Khan was the guest of honour on the occasion. The dinner was also attended by State Director Immigration NSW Jim O’Callaghan, Labour Senator for South Australia and Shadow Minister for Immigration Annette Hurley, Counsel Generals of Pakistan and China. Around $70,000 was raised at the dinner. ABC Tissue Products Pvt Ltd donated $50,000 ACCF donated $10,000 and the guests donated $10,000 respectively.

PAA President and Director World Vision collected the donation cheques jointly. The latter is collecting donations for the earthquake victims in association with the PAA. Ejaz Khan thanked the ACCF chairperson Hudson Chen and the Trustee Benjumin Chow and founding chairperson Peter Wong who on his personal request made sincere efforts to raise funds for the earthquake victims. He also thanked the generosity of Chinese community on behalf of Pakistan Community. Mr Chow and Mr Chen assured Ejaz Kahn that they will organise another fundraising dinner shortly to raise more funds for the victims of Pakistan earthquake. Mr Khan appreciated their gesture.
