Australia A Defeats Pakistan A in the 4DAY 2nd Match at Tony Ireland Stadium Brisbane

Tony Ireland Stadium
Brisbane hosted the second of two four-day international cricket Matches between
Australia A and Pakistan A from Friday 3 – Monday 6 July 2009.The toss was Won
by Pakistan who chose to field. The 2nd Match finished on Monday evening at 17:
22 local time and according to the result, Australia A defeated Pakistan A for a
1-0 series win.
Jason Krejza reminded the national selectors of his value with a four-wicket
haul that helped deliver Australia A a tense victory over Pakistan A in
Townsville. As Australia consider a spinner-less Test team in Cardiff, Krejza
and his fellow slow bowler Jon Holland combined for six wickets on the final day
to hand the home team a 1-0 series win.
Pakistan were chasing 300 but a draw appeared their best possible outcome as the
batsmen, with the exception of Azhar Ali, struggled in the second innings.
Azhar's 73 was a lone hand and when he fell to Holland Australia had a sniff of
victory.
Krejza's 4 for 54 and three wickets from Doug Bollinger brought a result closer
but it still went down to the wire. The winning breakthrough came when Holland
struck in the 78th over as Fahad Masood prodded to Michael Klinger at silly
point.
The home team had posted 34 for the loss of three wickets in the morning session
as Moises Henriques (82) failed to add to his overnight score and missed the
chance for a maiden first-class century. The sides now head to Brisbane for the
limited-overs portion of the series.
