General Musharraf greets Australian Governor General on national day
President of
Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf has greeted the Governor General of the
Commonwealth of Australia Major General Michael Jeffery AC.CVO, MC (retd) on his
country’s national day on January 26.
Extending warm felicitations to the Australian Governor General, President
Musharraf said Pakistan and Australia enjoyed close and cordial relations,
characterized by understanding on a wide range of regional and international
issues, says a message on Thursday.
The President expressed confidence that the friendly relations between the two
countries would continue to grow from strength to strength.
“I avail myself of this opportunity to express my best wishes for the progress
and prosperity of the people of Australia,” President Musharraf said.

Prime Minister of
Pakistan Shaukat Aziz has sent greetings to Australian Prime Minister John
Winston Howard on the national day of Australia being celebrated on January 26.
Shaukat Aziz in his greeting message said "It gives me great pleasure to convey
on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan and on my own behalf to Your
Excellency, the People and Government of Australia greetings on the occasion of
the National Day of Australia."
He said: "Pakistan and Australia enjoy close relations, which are based on
common perceptions on international and regional issues. We hope and endeavor
that these relations will continue to strengthen.
"Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
