Australia Day Celebration at Auburn Botanic Garden Sydney
REFUGEE AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS 2026 JOINT
INITIATIVE BY AUSTRALIAN AFGHAN HASNAIN YOUTH ASSOCIATION AND SHIA NATIONAL
NETWORK.
Every year the celebration event is arranged by these two sister organisations
at various venues. For the last two years it is done in Botanic Gardens Auburn,
Sydney.
This year it was done on the 26th of January 2026 from 9 am to 4 pm.
Six hundred people from various communities
attended the event. A nominated delegation of Church of Scientology at
Chatswood was also among the attendees.
Imam Sayed Zaki from Nabi Akram Guildford, Imam Hussani from Markiz Irshad,
Imam of Auburn Mosques represented their Centres. Sayeed Karimi and Syed Zawar
represented AAYHA and SNNA respectively.
Superintendent of Police Robert Toynton Commander of Auburn Police Areas was
the guest of honour.
Awards were handed to Syed Zawar, to the
Police Commander and to the youth volunteers by the Chief Organiser Sayeed
Karimi.
Kids enjoyed face paintings, Henna, games and jumping castles. There were great
number of stalls selling women clothes, jewellery and useable.
Free lunch, sweets, drinks, tea and coffee
were provided by the two organising sister organisations.
Speakers were the Police Commander, Syed Zawar, Sayed Zaki and Gokhan from NDIS
Love Australia.
AAYHA had provided to the family’s free lift to and from the event.
