PAA Well-Organised Azadi Mela at Fairfield Showground Sydney

The Pakistan Association of
Australia (PAA) is proud to announce their Azadi Mela & Independence Day Fair
at Fairfield Showground on Sunday 13 August 2006 was an overwhelming success.
The PAA arranged for great stalls, fantastic Pakistani food, live entertainment
from Pakistani band Jazba, kids rides and fashion show by Batool. Sydney
designer, Batool Zulfiqar debuted her 'Basanti' summer collection in an
energized, enigmatic fashion show. The show captivated the audience with funky
songs, eclectic designs and show stopping moves.
Batool Zulfiqar has a collection of casual, traditional, formal, bridal &
fusion of east/west clothing and can be contacted on 0401 938 117.
Pakistani band Jazba led by Dr. Sadiq Rahmani, Rucha Langay and Shivani
performed traditional, pop and milli songs all day which were enjoyed and
appreciated by the audience till the last minute with continuous requests for
encores. According to sources of Sada-e-Watan, record crowds
of over 5,000 people attended the event from all parts of Pakistan and India.

The cricket competition was sponsored by the Community Relations Commission for
a Multicultural NSW which was held on Saturday 12 August 2006 in Auburn. The
winners of the competition were Cheetah 11. They were presented with magnificent
trophies and cricket bats generously donated by Legends of Asia and signed by
famous Pakistani cricketers, by our President Mr. Shabbir Ahmed. “It great to see
so many young Pakistani’s celebrating this event.” Mr Ahmed said. The

The PAA also received well wishes from the Leader of the Opposition, The Hon. Mr

Nirala Sweets provided the crowds with some great sweet jalabi’s and National
