A brief report on Bazm-e-Adab Canberra on Mushaira in May 2011
Bazm-e-Adab
Canberra has privileged to organise an evening with Dr Shabir Haider on 28th May
2011. This evening was set to inaugurate his new book called “Sarmaya”.
The evening was alienated into two parts, the book inauguration was in the first
part and in the second part was the poetry session by well renowned poets from
Canberra, Sydney & Melbourne and a guest poet from Pakistan. The MC of the
evening was Mr Nadeem Sheikh.
Mr Izhar ul Haq
is well renowned poet and writer and his poetry and articles are regularly
printed in Pakistani newspapers and in overseas as well. He was the guest of
honour of the function. Pakistan’s Acting High Commissioner H.E Mr. Tasawar Khan
was also invited at the function and requested to preside the Mushaira.
The evening started at 6:30 pm with the opening speech by the President of
Bazm-e-Adab, Mrs Khalida Qureshi. Mrs Qureshi welcomed the guests and
highlighted Bazm’s activities throughout the years since it was founded. She
also spread light on Dr Shabir sahib’s book and his poetic skills. After the
welcome speech, H.E Mr. Tasawar Khan inaugurated Dr Shabir Haider’s book
“Sarmaya. Mr Saeed Khan and Mrs Noshi Gilani read Makaala on the book “Sarmaya”.
H.E Mr Tasawar Khan also addressed the audience and thanked the Bazm e Adab for
inviting him. Mr Izhar ul Haque sahib and Dr Shabir Haider also made their
speeches.
After the book inauguration, the mushaira started with the opening poet Mr Nasir
Khan. He recited his poems in his typical Lucknow style which was praised by all
audience in the hall. The next poet Mr Attique Siddiqui recited his few very
well renowned nazms and ghazals followed by next poet Mohammad Ali. At first Mr
Mohammad Ali thanked Bazm e Adab for arranging such a high quality programme and
praised for the programmes and other literary activities in the past years. He
recited poems and received appreciation from the audience.
Mr Javed
Amrohwi is a well known poet in Sydney and he travelled all the way from Sydney
to participate in this mushaira. His poems were also very well praised by the
audience. Mr Arshad Saeed came from Melbourne and recited his poems which were
well appreciated at the mushaira. Saeed Khan and Mrs Noshi Gilani were also
requested to recite their poetry . Mrs Noshi Gilani recited her ghazals and
poems from her recently published book which was inaugurated in Sydney and in
Pakistan.
The evening was highly praised by all and was considered a very high quality
program presented by Bazm-e-Adab Canberra. At the conclusion of the proceedings,
Mrs Amna Zubair came on stage and thanked all the distinguish guest and the
sponsors and thanked all the guest for their support . She also thanked the
Bazm-e-Adab team for organising a successful event.
