Please re elect Minister Barbara Perry for the seat of Auburn Sydney
Barbara Perry was elected
the Member for Auburn in a by-election held in 2001. Prior to entering
Parliament, Barbara was a Legal Aid solicitor for 12 years and Councillor on
Auburn Council for four years.
A mother of five young boys, Barbara has lived in the Auburn electorate her
entire life. Her husband Michael is a local school teacher. Barbara is
passionate about her local community and delivering better services for working
families.
Barbara is currently the Minister for Local Government, Minister Assisting the
Minister for Health (Mental Health) and Minister for Juvenile Justice. Barbara
has previously held the portfolios of Juvenile Justice, Western Sydney and
Assisting the Premier on Citizenship since being elevated to Cabinet in April
2007.Barbara continues to deliver for her local community with great initiatives
the seat of Auburn Sydney.
On Thursday 24th March,
famous Businessman Mr. Iftikhar Rana President Pakistan Association of Australia
hosted a dinner at his residence in the Honour of Minister Barbara Perry. The
dinner was held at Auburn Sydney and attended by prominent members of the local
Pakistani Australian community
The President Pakistan Association of Australia Mr. Iftikhar Rana and
Editor-in-Chief of Sada-e-Watan Syed Zafar Hussain appreciated the Great
services of Minister Barbara Perry MP and requests the local voters to re elect
Barbara Perry in the state elections of Saturday, 26th March 2011.

Profile
The electorate of Auburn takes in all of the Auburn local government area,
including the suburbs of Auburn, Lidcombe, Regents Park and Berala, as well as
the new suburb of Newington, developed as accommodation for the nearby Sydney
Olympic site. The electorate also includes the suburbs of Sefton, Birrong and
parts of Greenacre from Bankstown Council. Other features of the electorate
include Rookwood Cemetery, the Chullora railway workshops and new industrial
developments, the Silverwater industrial area and the entire Homebush Bay
Olympics and Showground site.
2006 Census Profile
Auburn is one of Sydney's middle-distance migrant seats and has the state's most
diverse ethnic mix. It has the state's second highest proportion of residents
born overseas (50.4%), of people born in a non-English speaking country (47.3%),
of people with both parents born overseas (68.9%), of people not fluent in
English (16.8%) and people speaking a language other than English at home
(64.5%). By religion Auburn has the state's highest proportion of people of
Islamic faith (23.6%, ten times the state average), the second lowest proportion
of Christians (40.1%), second lowest proportion of Anglicans (6.1%), fourth
lowest proportion of Catholics (21.5%) and overall the second highest proportion
of non-Christians (36.6%, five times the state average). By place of birth
Auburn has the fourth highest level of people born in the Middle East (10.2%)
and fifth highest proportion born in South East Asia (9.5%). The electorate also
state's highest lowest proportion of women in the workforce (41.2%) and the
third highest proportion of residents aged 15-24 (16.2%).
