President BHP Billiton Energy calls on Secretary Petroleum

 

  

The President of BHP Billiton Energy Group of Australia, Philip Aiken, called on the Federal Secretary Petroleum Ahmad Waqar and discussed with him matters pertaining to promotion of Pak-BHP cooperation in the oil, gas and mineral sectors.

The secretary expressed gratitude to the BHP Billiton company for its generous contribution of US$ 500,000 and material help for the earthquake victims. He appreciated the company's cooperation for the promotion of oil, gas and mineral sectors of Pakistan and invited the company to expand its activities for mutual benefit.

Ahmad Waqar briefed the company's president about the investment opportunities in the oil, gas and mineral sectors as well as mega cross border pipeline and LNG projects and invited them to invest in it.

Philip Aiken expressed grief over heavy loss of human lives and widespread devastation by October 8 earthquake. He lauded the government's efforts for promotion of the oil, gas and mineral sectors by providing attractive incentives to the investors in an investor-friendly environment. He expressed the company's willingness to increase its activities in the upstream and downstream petroleum and mineral sectors for the mutual benefit.

BHP Country General Manager Phil Byrne and Senior officials of the Ministry of Petroleum were also present during the meeting.
