Consul General of Pakistan Provided Details of the New Trade Policy
Dear Zafar Sahib,
Thanks for your coverage in Sada e Watan Sydney. I came back from Islamabad last week. The visit was mostly to participate in trade policy issues. The trade policy has been announced. The trade policy reflects continuity, Consistency and more deregulation. Export targets fixed at $ 18.6 billion for 06/07.
Specifically what may interest our community doing business is that exports to pacific countries island from Pakistan will be eligible for 25% freight subsidy, some developmental items defined as such by EPB (www.epb.gov.pk) will also get 25% freight subsidy if exported to Australia. These are for shipment made from 1/8/06 to 31/7/07. Second hand cars import subject to maximum 5 years old have been allowed in all cases, i.e., tr, gift and baggage.
