Annual Fund Raising Dinner

You would be aware that the CICs long standing issue of rental debt was resolved late last year. As a result a new concessional Crown Lease was signed on 25 November 2011.This has enabled the Executive Committee (EC) to put very favourable arrangements in place with the ACT government to purchase the block of land by installments over 15 years interest free. Having now cleared this long-standing matter, we have spent the last few months planning the building project of Phase 2 of the CIC complex. You will also have noticed that the site has recently been fully cleared and levelled.

 

We have also progressed with the design work for Phase 2 that includes a Masjid, the Australian National Islamic Library, seminar rooms and other facilities. The revised concept design will undergo a second round of community consultation following this we aim to proceed to detailed design work and submit this for approval by the ACT Planning Authority. We aim to keep the cost of the project to around $1 million. Full details of the building design features will be presented at the fund raising dinner.
