Premier Hon.Barry O’Farrell MP Presents Highly Commended Award to ICPA Scouts Leader Ziad El-Daoud
Group Leader Ziad El-Daoud received a Highly Commended Building Inclusive Communities Award (Category Individual) from the NSW Premier the Hon. Barry O’Farrell MP at the Parliament House, Sydney.
The Award ceremony was organized at by The Ethnic Communities’ Council and Macquarie University to recognize and showcase individuals and groups in NSW whose work promotes harmony and understanding of others, and makes a significant contribution in helping to build a diverse and tolerant Australia.
Mr. El-Daoud received the Award for his volunteering work with the 5th Bankstown ICPA Scout group for a number of years. In this capacity he has been promoting harmony between youths in the Bankstown area by encouraging them to participate in community activities such as Clean Up Australia Day, Harmony Day, sporting activities, BBQs, camping trips, rock climbing and more.
He shows leader ship in the community and helps to both preserve culture and foster understanding and compassion. The activities he arranges help to encourage dialogue between young people from all backgrounds.
Ziad has helped to promote harmony, unity, love, compassion, friendship and tolerance in the Bankstown community.
Mr. El-Daoud also received a letter of congratulation from the Hon Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Citizenship and Communities that states: “Thank you for your many tremendous contributions to the NSW community through promoting harmony and the understanding of others. Congratulations one again on your achievement. I encourage you to continue your work in promoting harmony and the understanding of others. This is integral in building a diverse and tolerant Australia”.
