A pre evening cricket “Masters Dinner” is proposed as a fund raising “meet the
people” opportunity.
1.1 Background
The idea of the event has been mooted from a Sydney senior group of past masters
of first class and representative players, cricketers that are over 40.
Otherwise known as the Masters competition. In particular the idea is being
driven by John Bateup of Neutral Bay.
Well known Test cricketers have graced this competition for many years and now
have combined to raise charitable funds by playing an annual game of cricket.

of North Sydney Ms Genia Mcaffery for the use of the historic, picturesque and

contribution of $2,500.00 in kind. Also, a reserve day in case of inclement
weather.

Further enquiries are being conducted with favourable responses to be followed
up. Two high profile cricket team’s will be named by September 2007.
• Secure a worthy Charity to sponsor, one related to cricket it is proposed

them to participate in the cricket game would be ideal. Initial talks with Ms
Helen Hall of the McGrath foundation have been positive and have led to a brief
being sent to the Foundation for consideration.

Lynne Wilkinson being sent a brief. Ms Wilkinson has extensive experience in
this area and will be a great asset in the days ahead and with the support of
the proposed charity being the McGrath Foundation giving strong support by
attracting high profile players will prove a great event.. This would be a great
event in which to raise the awareness of the McGrath Foundation and its
invaluable works.
• Secure Sponsorship team to approach potential sponsors and to follow up these
with goal of attaining a minimum target of $100,000.00. High profile sponsors
are available. Strong interest has been shown by high profile corporate bodies
to sponsor the event and also the sponsorship of in kind services.
1.3 Overview
A dinner will be held prior to the event with well known past and present Test
players as speakers. The pre game dinner will be part of the fund raising. The
cricket game will be played at centrally located North Sydney oval. This event
will be especially a Family day, cricket is truly a national traditional sport
that the vast majority of Australians follow and support. Therefore it is in our
interests as cricket lovers that we encourage the family as a unit to this day.
Children to the age of 18 have free entry with a donation from adults.
Condiments such as soft drinks, chips, hot dogs and so on will be supplied at a
one dollar each. Short Cricket coaching clinics will be given by ex Test players
with a competition prior to the event to choose kids that will participate. A
competition for 20 kid’s to enter for free coaching on the day from senior
players will be advertised in the media and winners drawn. This event will not
be seen as a profit driven event but one mindful of a Family event and the
significant good works of the McGrath Foundation.
