Cricket Masala Tournament in Bankstown, Sydney

Aim: To celebrate
Harmony Day and the end of the cricket season in Australian South Asian style
with big sixes, entertainment and sweet & spicy food from the subcontinent.
Summary: Cricket is the premier sport of South Asia and Australia’s South Asian
community which numbers approximately 400,000 including over 225,000 in Sydney.
The cricket playing South Asian nations include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka,
Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal with Fiji, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa
and Kenya having significant South Asian Ancestral communities in Sydney.
Until this point there has not been an elite tournament in Australia allowing
the young cricketers of South Asian origin to represent their ancestral
homeland. In addition there has not been a tournament that integrates the unique
carnival atmosphere of Food, Entertainment and music that defines the South
Asian Cricket tradition.
Cricket Masala will bring these communities together in unity, giving all
Sydneysiders an opportunity to celebrate this unique South Asian sporting
tradition together with a family day of cricket, food, cultural entertainment
and racial harmony.

capacity of 6500.
