Justice Javed Buttar appointed chairman Central Zakat Council
According to notification
issued in Islamabad, the President General Pervaiz Musharraf has appointed
Justice M. Javed Buttar, Judge, Supreme Court, as chairman of the Central Zakat
Council of Pakistan for a period of three years with immediate effect. Mr.
Justice Javed Buttar is the brother of Famous Pakistani Lawyer of Australia Mr.
Pervaiz Buttar.
The Central Zakat Council was without a chairman since October 2004. In past
years chairman of the Central Zakat Council was appointed by the president from
a panel of three members recommended by the Supreme Court (SC). However this
time the SC sent one name only of Justice Javed Buttar.
