Ejaz Khan Meets Prime Minister of AJK

Australia Association (PAA) Ejaz Khan met Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime
Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan during his recent visit to Pakistan and AJK.
The meeting held at Kashmir House, Islamabad and continued for nearly an
hour.During the meeting AJK Premier informed Ejaz about the huge devastation
caused by the natural disaster. Sardar Sikandar Hayat told Ejaz Khan that the
whole city of Muzaffarabad, capital of AJK was leveled including the PM House
and government buildings.
The AJK Prime Minister further informed that the people need 20-30 metal sheets
(2 x 1 meter) per family to build their houses. Ejaz asked the PAA partners
World Vision to arrange and distribute these sheets to the victims. World Vision
has approved Ejaz’s request and 70 thousand metal sheets will be distributed by
the end of February 2006.
He expressed satisfaction over the work being carried out by the International
NGOs and local charity organizations. Ejaz Khan informed the Prime Minister
about the efforts which PAA had made within Australia in collaboration with
World Vision to provide help and support to the earthquake victims.
Ejaz Khan assured the Prime Minister that he would continue to seek help from
the Australian community in Pakistan for the rehabilitation of the quake
victims. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Tariq
Khan and other high officials.
