Australia fund raising BBQ at the Auburn Botanic Garden Sydney

The Edhi International Foundation Australia organised a fund raising BBQ on Sunday 27th November 2011 at the Auburn Botanic Garden. This event was part of the regular fund raising programmes to help the less fortunate in Pakistan.
Over 250 people attended the BBQ on the beautiful sunny day. Everyone enjoyed the delicious and juicy burgers and sausages, homemade yummy deserts, fresh fruit and ice cold drinks.
For the children, there was a carnival atmosphere, with the kids enjoying games, face painting and balloon animals as well as ice blocks, chocolates and lollies. There was also henna art and manicures for the ladies.
The director of the event Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Khan and his team worked very hard and did a fantastic job of raising $6,250 at NO cost to the EDHI Foundation. He personally secured the location for the event, mustered up sponsorship as well as providing the delicious food for the day. Zulfiqar was tirelessly assisted by Mr Arif Ahmad and Mr Altaf Khan not only on the day but for the weeks and months of planning for this huge success.
The directors of Edhi Foundation Riaz Malik, Khalil Allahwala and Asif Iqbal’s, presence and encouragement gave the team sprit to work even harder and enjoy themselves throughout the day.
The event became more colourful by the regular comments, encouragement to donate and other announcement on the microphone by Khalil. He also auctioned a Biography of Dr. Edhi and other items kindly donated. He also shared the EDHI Foundation Australia activities over the last two years including sending $10,000 for the Somalia Drought and twelve Ambulances to Pakistan.
Everything from the hire of the venue to the food, drinks, desert, cutlery etc were donated by major corporations and individuals. Halal mince meat was donated by IGA and spices mixed by Mr. Mushtaq of Himaliya Restaurant. Major donors were Caltex Mascot and Khans of IGA. Mr. Fazal of Roshan Fashion also donated generously as always.
