General Ehsan has arrived to Malaysia after completing his historical official visit to Australia.

The head of Pakistan’s Defence Force, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Ehsan ul-Haq, has completed his visit to Australia to meet his counterpart and discuss the bilateral Defence relationship. General Ehsan met with the Minister for Defence, Dr Brendan Nelson and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Alexander Downer, as well as Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, Secretary of Defence Ric Smith and a range of senior Defence and foreign policy officials in Canberra.
General Ehsan’s call on the CDF included a round-table discussion on the defence relationship between the two countries. One topic of conversation was the ADF’s humanitarian efforts after the Pakistan earthquake where General Ehsan thanked Australia for its support. The round-table provided an opportunity to exchange views on a variety of matters and for CDF to convey Defence’s appreciation for Pakistan’s assistance with the transshipment of Reconstruction Task Force materiel, and to request that Pakistan continue to strengthen its efforts against cross-border infiltration into Afghanistan.
During the week, General Ehsan visited the Australian War Memorial to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and visited the Australian Defence College at Weston Creek, where he gave a presentation at the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies. General Ehsan also visited Army Land Headquarters in Sydney, where he gave a briefing on Training Command by Major General Richard Wilson, and visited Headquarters Air Command in Glenbrook, NSW, where he was briefed by Air Vice Marshal John Quaife, Air Commander Australia.
General Ehsan Ul Haq has arrived in Kuala Lumpur where he will depart to Islamabad Pakistan after completing his historical official visit of Australia.
