Solicitor Ejaz Khan has been re elected as Chairman of the Sydwest Multicultural
Former President of Pakistan Association Ejaz Khan has been re elected as Chairman of the Sydwest Multicultural MSI formerly known as Blacktown Migration Resource Centre second time in a row. Sydwest MSI is a reputable organisation working for the welfare of the new migrants and assist issues facing by the settled communities such as disability, youth, children, age care and families in the Western Suburbs for over a period of time. Sydwest has developed a great reputation in the communities, government departments and private sectors and receive generous funding for the projects which helps the local communities. Her Excellency Governor General of Australia and Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural and settlement Senator Kate Lundy has visited this year and recognised the work Sydwest doing.
The Sydwest MSI have a budget of approximately $9,000,000 per annum and staff of over 100 at present
.Sydwest have 10 board members having board experience in government and private sectors. The board members are Area Command NSW Police Blacktown Mark Wright , Noel Hiffren President of Greystanes Breakthrough, Dr Chandrika Subramanium Solicitor, Dr Russel Dickens Councilor Blacktown Council, Blaraj Sangha of Punjabi Community, Oam Krishan President Bhutan Community and Cathy Myer NSW TAFE.AGM was held on 5 December 2011 in the Sydwest MSI office corner of Sunnyholt Road and First Avenue . Honourable John Robertson NSW Leader of the Opposition attended and commended the work carried by the Sydwest and reiterate his support in future. Mr Stephan Bali Councillor Blacktown Council represented Mayor Blacktown Council along with representative of DIAC, DHS , CRC, RSL, Rotary Club. This event was also attended by several community and religious leaders.
In his address to the guests and members Ejaz commended the hard work of the Sydwest MSI staff and CEO Susan Vogal. He thanked the support of the sponsors and funding bodies and clients. He presented annual report for year 2010- 2011 to all the members and participants. Ejaz explain the future vision of the organisation on the power point and said that the board has adopted 4C approach to move forward in future Connecting Cultures, Creating, Community for the harmonious. Australian Society.
At the end various communities who has been assisted by the services of the Sydwest thanked the organisation by putting cultural performances.
SydWest Multicultural Services Inc
SydWest Multicultural Services Inc was established in 1985 to assist with the settlement needs of migrants and refugees in the Blacktown Local Government Area. Since then our support services have developed and expanded to meet the wide variety of needs and challenges experienced by people in the western Sydney area. Our services now include a rapidly growing aged care and disabilities section as well as support of families with babies and young children.
SydWest Multicultural Services Inc is a non-profit community association which provides practical assistance and services for the relief of poverty, distress and misfortune to disadvantaged and marginalized people in the Western Sydney Area. It has been established to directly assist and support refugees, humanitarian entrants and migrants in their settlement or other critical times.
SydWest Multicultural Services will work to empower people irrespective of their ethnic,cultural or religious backgrounds to equally participate in Australian Society.
