 Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith departs for official visit to Pakistan

Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith departed Australia for his first official visit to Pakistan. Australian FM will visit Pakistan from Monday 16th February to 18 Feb 2009. It will be the first high level visit from Australia after Prime Minister John Howard visited Pakistan in 2005. During his visit, the Australian Foreign Minister will hold talks with Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on issues of mutual interest. In addition to bilateral relations, regional and global issues are also likely to be discussed during the meeting.
The Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith will also call on President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani besides meeting Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
