Pakistani Australian Women Association arranging a Cultural Food Fair in Sydney

In 2011,PAWA members have been getting their hands dirty learning about permaculture gardening and compiling a cookbook of traditional recipes as part of the Linking Communities through Permaculture Project. This project has also involved members of the Chinese, Indian and Thai communities in the St George and Sutherland Shire Sydney NSW.

The communities would like to invite you to come along to a Cultural Food Fair and Cook Book Launch on Sunday, 20 November to celebrate the success of the project. From 11 am - 4pm there will be food from the cookbook,entertainment and children's activities at Olds Park in Penshurst Sydney (access from Holley Road).

 The day will be going ahead with the support of the St George Migrant Resource Centre and the NSW Environment Trust.

People have to buy the ticket for food fair $5 for Adults and $3 children (6-12). you need ticket to get your free food and entertainment.

Pakistani Australian Women Association

In October 2010 a handful women from Pakistani community in Sydney’s St George area formed Pakistani Australian Women Association Inc (PAWA). Before the formation of PAWA these women were part of a broader sub content women’s group which, since 1996, had been holding meetings, arranging seminars and organising various development activities at the St. George Migrant Resource Centre.

 PAWA’s was formed to meet the demand of the rapidly growing Pakistani community in the St George area however it now more than 60 members all over Sydney. PAWA’s objectives are to:

 Promote the awareness of South Asian women and their families on issues of concern and available services;
