OBITUARY
(Alhajj) Syed Furqan Ahmad Bilgrami has passed away at the Sydney Adventist Hospital
Syed
Furqan Ahmad Bilgrami passed away at Sydney Adventist Hospital on Thursday,15
Nov 2012. He retired in 1971 from the PAF and held various post retirement
positions including Chairman Gem Corporation of Pakistan. He left behind a
distinguished family of note including his eldest son Fareed Ahmad Bilgrami who
also worked for the PAF and is currently working for the NSW Government. His
daughter Nahid is a happily married home maker and son Navid Ahmed Bilgrami
works at Caltex as a Marketing Project Services Manager. Syed Furqan was phuppa
to Mrs. Sabiha Ahmed wife of Mr Pervaiz Buttar solicitor.
Syed Furqan Ahmad Bilgrami had completed his engineering degree from Aligarh
University and after commissioning in the PAF in 1948 was sent to UK for further
degree in aeronautical engineering by the PAF. Syed Furqan Ahmad Bilgrami was
married in 1950. His wife Zohra-Jabeen lives in Sydney with Fareed and enjoys
the family life of all family members living in Sydney. The deceased has left
three children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Syed Furqan Ahmad Bilgrami was known in the PAF and among family and friends for his great sense of humour and his unlimited love for all those he met. He was one of the pioneers in the aeronautical engineering branch of the Pakistan Air Force and left an excellent legacy of pride and performance. His son, Fareed also retired at the same rank (Wing Commander) in the PAF, a distinction very few obtained in any Air Force anywhere.
He will be missed by a well knit family of over forty strong in Sydney and a very large number of family friends. The family is renowned for their piety and adherence of family values, many migrants miss in their family life and is a beacon of light for all of us.
Please remember Syed Furqan Ahmad Bilgrami in your prayers, and pray that the
Almighty grants him an exalted place in Heaven. The editorial Board of
Sada-e-Watan prays to the Almighty for the departed soul to rest in eternal
peace and grant courage to his family members to bear this irreparable loss
Ameen.
