Governor NSW Her Excellency Professor Dr Marie Bashir hosted a reception in honour of the United Nations Secretary General His Excellency Ban Ki-moon

Professor Dr. Marie Bashir,the first woman to be appointed Governor of New South Wales Australia took up her office on the 01March 2001.Born of Lebanese descent, in Narrandera in the Riverina district of New South Wales, and educated at Narrandera Public School and Sydney Girls High School, Marie Bashir gained her bachelor degrees in medicine and surgery in 1956 from the University of Sydney.Professor Dr. Marie Bashir is married to Sir Nicholas Shehadie and together they have three children and six grandchildren.

Her Excellency Prof Marie Nashir, Governor of NSW and Sir Nicholas Shehadie hosted a reception in honour of the United Nations Secretary General His Excellency Ban Ki-moon and Mrs Ban Soon-taek.The function was held at the Government House Sydney on the evening of the Wed, 7th Sept 2011.

Among the guests were the Premier, Deputy Premier of NSW. NSW Ministers, Senior Bureaucrats, Academicians, and professionals, UN officials were also present. Mr.Azam Mohammed Dean of the NSW Consular Corp and Mrs.Sarah Azam Mohammed also among the guests.
