Govt of Australia announced more assistance for Pakistan

Government of Australia will send an additional 4 million Australian dollars to Pakistan, the Foreign Minister said on 22nd October, answering a UN call for more assistance to the earthquake-ravaged country. The donation brings Australia’s total Pakistan relief aid to $14.1 million.

Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said the money would be distributed through the Australian Agency for International Development to buy food, blankets, health supplies and water purification tablets. "We are also investigating the possibility of sending Australian-sourced food to Pakistan," Downer said in a media release send to Sada-e-Watan Sydney.
