Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani delivered a lecture at Griffith University

Queensland Art Gallery arranged a
Asia seminar on the topic of 'Pakistan’s Regional Security Perspective’ By His
Excellency Mr Jalil Abbas Jilani, High Commissioner for Pakistan in Australia.
The seminar was held on the evening of Thursday 26th June 2008 at Queensland Art
Gallery, Stanley Place South Bank. The function was attended by the students,
University Professors and other guests. Drinks & refreshments were served prior
to the seminar.
His Excellency Mr Jalil Abbas Jilani arrived in Australia as the new High
Commissioner in June 2007. He joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in March
1979 and then served at the Headquarters as Section Officer (1981-1982) and
Director (1992-1995). Mr Jilani also served as Deputy Secretary, Prime
Minister’s Secretariat from 1989 to 1992. Before posting to Australia he was
serving as Director General (South Asia & SAARC) at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs ‘s Headquarters in Islamabad. He also served as the Government’s
Spokesman on Foreign Affairs from February-August 2005. Mr Jilani is currently
the High Commissioner for Pakistan based in Canberra.
