H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas hosts a Reception for Pakistan & New Zealand Cricket Teams
H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas High
Commissioner for Pakistan to New Zealand, hosted a Reception at the Pakistan
House, in honour of the Pakistan and New Zealand Cricket Teams, in Wellington on
12 January, 2011. Besides all members of two teams, Mayor of Wellington Ms.
Celia Wade-Brown, senior government officials, local dignitaries and
Pakistan-Kiwi community members attended the Reception.
Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner Syed Ibne Abbas dilated upon the
cricketing ties between the two nations. He stated that the Wellington Test
match will be the 50th Test match to be played between two nations. High
Commissioner stressed for further strengthening of cricketing bonds between the
two countries which augurs well for the overall bilateral relations.
The two Captains Misbah ul Haq and Daniel Vettori, the Mayor of Wellington and
Deputy Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade also spoke on the
occasion. It was a rare occasion where members of both the cricket teams
together with their respective managements were present. The Reception was
attended by 130 persons representing cross section of the society.
