Welfare and Sports Association arranged Imam Hussain Peace Conference at NSW
Parliament House
Sadat Welfare and Sports Association has been serving the community
particularly the youth over many years with its young President Syed Agha
Jaffry. The organisation has a few features which make it different from
others, and it is most imperative that those features are essential for all
community organisation working in this multicultural country. In the first
place its young President has strong conviction in youth empowerment. Young
people are involved in management, decision making, welcoming and associating
with VIPs, arranging things and working in various positions like acting as MC
and protocol personnel. Secondly the organisation has strong relationships with
social and political personalities of the area. It is most important outlook to
raise the collective image of the Shia community.
Most spectacular feature of this organisation is increased focus on the
youth development. To flourish the talents of the youth a variety of activities
like youth competitions, games and sports are organised and awards are handed
by VIPs. This Shia organisation is inclusive like two great community organisation namely Banksia Tigers Football
Club and Arncliffe Aurora community-based Football club, 1991. Difference
between this organisation and two earlier ones mentioned is that Sadat Welfare
and Sports, while focuses on the youth health wellness as well, it equally
cares for their religious adherence and conviction.
In pursuance of their overall commitment for the
social and religious aspects of youth a seminar in the NSW Parliament was
organised on 8th of August 2025. The topic for the seminar was”
HUSSAIN FOR ALL “The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by
Sheikh Abdul Kabir Haidary while Syed Murtaza Mousavi acted as MC. The people
who had spoken on the topic were Hon. Julia Finn (the
host) State member of the Parliament, Sayed Rohullah Hussaini, a visiting
scholar from Iran, Syed Jawad Hussain Abadi, a
visiting scholar from Pakistan and a Christian Priest Father
David Smith. The speakers elaborated on the sacrifice and steadfastness of
Imam Hussain against the most cruel and despotic ruler of the time Yazeed who
had no regards for human value and righteousness. The courage, love for human
dignity, truth and virtues exhibited by the grandson of Holy Prophet and his
households stopped forever all evil forces to ask allegiance from the household
of the Holy Prophet. Father David smith dwelled on the concept on interfaith
unity and had asserted that Imam Hussain for all times will not be a
representative of Muslims only rather he is the savior, beacon of light and ark
of salvation for the entire universe. He lives in the hearts of those who have
conscience and love for human dignity. He concluded that it was his honour to
speak about Imam Hussain.
A photo session marked the end of the ceremony with a final note of
thanks by the President Syed Jaffry.
