Australian Govt Invited Yousaf Raza Gilani for Official Visit

Prime Minister of
Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani welcomed Australia's desire to start
development projects in education, health and agriculture in Federally
Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). Talking to Australian High Commissioner in
Pakistan Zorica McCarthy, who called on him at the Prime Minister's House
Islamabad, he said Pakistan appreciated Australian assistance for the
quake-affected people. PM of Pakistan said the two countries enjoyed good
relations and should enhance cooperation in every sphere of life.
"The new democratic government will adopt a multi-dimensional strategy to
confront challenges of terrorism and extremism," he said, adding that the
government was working on various initiatives to address the menace of
terrorism.
Australian HC McCarthy lauded the role of Pakistan in the war on terrorism and
assured the Prime Minister of her country's support to meet the challenges
effectively. She said her government was keen to work on projects in Fata and
wanted to assist Pakistan in health, education and agriculture sectors. She also
extended an invitation to the Prime Minister Gilani to visit Australia.
