Famous Politician of Pakistan Kashmala Tariq MNA has arrived in Australia

The Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians 2010 Conference was held at Jubilee Room, Parliament House Macquarie Street Sydney on Thursday, 1st July 9am. Ms Angela D’ Amore MP Chair , Australian Region CWP Committee and The Hon. Amanda Fazio MLC, President of NSW Legislative Council Welcomed the Delegations. On The Evening of Wednesday 30 June 2010, the Welcome Reception was hosted by the Governor of New South Wales Her Excellency Prof. Marie Bashir.  

Famous Politician of Pakistan Kashmala Tariq Advocate, Member National Assembly of Pakistan From Lahore is the head of the delegation of Pakistan. On the night of 29th June 2010, Mr. Hamid Asghar Counselor Pakistan Consulate Sydney Welcomed Kashmala Tariq at the Sydney International Airport. Kashmala Tariq is elected Chairperson Commonwealth Women Parliamentary Association Pakistan.

Kashmala Tariq (born January 24, 1972 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan) is a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from the Women Reserve Constituency NA-277 for the province of Punjab. She belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) or PML-Q. She is also actively involved in women's rights.

Kashmala Tariq completed her graduation from the SM Science College for Women in Lahore. She enrolled in the LLB program at the University of the Punjab where she joined the Peoples Students Federation (PSF) and started her political life as a student activist. She also worked with the famous lawyer S.M. Zafar for eight years.She obtained her LLB degree in 1996. She was awarded the degree of LLM from the London School of Economics in 1999.Kashmala Tariq is married and has one daughter and a son.

Kashmala Tariq entered the Pakistani Parliament on a seat reserved for women. The political party in direct proportion to seats won in the election gets a portion of its nominated women into parliament from the total pool of 72 women seats. On July 8 2008 her membership for the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam) was cancelled since the Party President accused her of making the Forward Block of this party.

 She was elected Students Union President at Lahore School of Economics (LSE) .She worked as corporate lawyer with a leading law firm Mandviwalla & Zafar for eight years and later got elected as Member National parliament in 2002. She got re elected as Member National Assembly of Pakistan (MNA) in 2008.

 She was elected as Chairperson of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians in CPA Annual conference held in India in 2007. She got elected by female MPs of 125 legislatures of 53 commonwealth member countries. Prior to this, she also served as Vice Chair of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) and member of steering committee representing Asian region.She sits on three standing committees of parliament for Law, Justice & Human Rights, Finance and Revenue and Trade and Commerce.She is the founding member and Executive Director of Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR), a cross party caucus of more than 60 members of the Pakistani parliament working together for Human Rights issues. During Earthquake 2005, she was the Chief coordinator of all parties Parliamentary committee established for relief and rehabilitation of earthquake victims
