Letter to the Editor from Mr. Imtiaz Ali on Pakistan Independence Celebration Day Function organised by Pakistan Association of Australia at Hurstville Sydney.
This letter is about Transfer of Money through non Banking Channels.
Sada-e-Watan has received a letter from one of the patriotic Pakistani which is reproduced below.
Dear Mr. Zafar Hussain,
“I was astonished to note that in the recent past there have been attempts to promote remittances to Pakistan through non banking channels on occasions like Pakistan Day. No doubt Pakistani community settled in Australia is aware that any money remitted through non banking channels does not help their beloved country Pakistan. Besides this, the remitters would expose themselves to all sorts of risks associated with dealing with such people/organizations including money laundering investigations etc. The non appearance of Habib Finance Australia, the only financial institution from Pakistan as a sponsor who as far as I know has always been supporting such events is very surprising. The motives behind exclusion of Habib Finance as one of the sponsors of Pakistan Day function organized by one of the association’s raises various questions as to the motives of the organizers. Are they too naïve to understand the effects of promoting remittances through non banking channel or have they deliberately turned blind eye for some other reason.
Sada e Watan who has always been working to promote the interest of Pakistan in letter & spirit should also take note of such attempts and must raise at appropriate level.”
I hope that you will publish my letter in my favourite newspaper Sada-e-Watan. I am not against any business man and I am not involved in any internal politics of associations. I just wish to express my point of view as a truly Pakistani living in Australia. Thank you
Regards,
Imtiaz Ali,
