Muslim Aid Australia organized a Fundraising Dinner for Swat IDP’s on Friday 26 June at the Orion Function Centre, a video from Muslim Aid Pakistan, delivered by Director of MA Pakistan Khobaib A Vahedy, who showed the audience an IDP Camp in NWFP Pakistan. Vahedy urged the audience to help in whichever way they could to assist in the ongoing struggle the IDPs were facing. Vahedy also gave a detailed report on the current situation in NWFP Pakistan, stating that there were over 4 million IDPs and only 20% of which have been placed in IDP Camps.
Junaid Ally, MC for the
evening, had the ball rolling from start to finish as he humorously entertained
guests with his witty comments and unorthodox auction skills with the help of
Sharif Deen. Sheikh Khalil Chami recited, Surratul Ghaffir. Comedians, Scott
Fraser, Khaled Khalafalla, and Lamisse Hamouda, had the crowd in tears as they
performed stand-up and sketch comedy.
Special Guest, Sharif Deen delivered a truly inspirational speech on charity and
our duty to help those in need.Muslim Aid Australia, also celebrated 20years of
making a difference, together by having Treasurer (Wakilla Volpe), Executive
Director (Iman Partorejo), and Trustee (Anjum Rafiqi) of MAA cut a 45kg cake
baked by The Cake Merchant Sydney. Muslim Aid Australia will send all
collections to Muslim Aid Pakistan who will supervise all welfare projects for
the IDP camps in NWFP Pakistan.
