On Friday, 13th January 2012, Majalis-e-Aza for the Chelum of Shuhada-e-Karbala was held at the home of Editor-in-Chief of Sada-e-Watan Sydney, Syed Zafar Hussain. The Majalis began at 8.45pm, after Salatul Maghribain with Tilawat-e-Quran recited by Ammaar Mirza and Hadis-e-Kisa by Zawar Hussain Shah.
Proceedings continued with Marsiya and Sooz o Salam by respected local reciters including Assad Ali, Tauqir Hassnain, Manzar Mirza and Advisor to Sada-e-Watan Sydney, Dr. Shabbir Haider. This was followed by famous Scholar Allama Maqbool Hussain Alavi delivering the main speech in Urdu language. Allama Alavi is especially here on his 4th visit from the UK at the request of Muhammadi Welfare Association Australia to recite Majalis for Ashra-e-Zainabia until 23rd January, 2012.
Allama Maqbool Hussain Alavi took Mimber at 9.30pm and delivered an hour-long intoxicating speech on the struggles of Zainab (A.S.) after the great calamities of Ashura. This was Allama Alavi’s first Majalis on his current visit to Australia.
As the speech came to an end, after Masaib, Sada of "Ya Hussain" roared and the program was continued with Noha Khawni and Matamdari showcasing mourning and lamentation for the Bani Hashim family. This was to commemorate the great sacrifice over 1, 400 years ago of Imam Hussain (A.S.) who was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.).
Noha Khawni was led by famous poet Dr. Shabbir Haider who recited the classical Saraiki/Punjabi Noha "Karbal tu piya likhda" to deep and passionate Matam by Azadars in attendance. Matam continued with Sohail Raza Rizvi reciting "Ali ne manga hai Ghazi ko Karbala ke liye." After Matamdari, there was Ziaraat by Zain Sheriff. Majalis was then concluded with Niaz served to all attending guests. Niaz was prepared by Tehsin Zaidi of Zaidi Catering services. The editorial board at Sada-e-Watan Sydney would like to thank all volunteers who tirelessly assisted with organisation as well as those who attended the Majalis and gave pursa for Imam Hussain (A.S.) and Ahlul-Bayt. May Allah (swt) Bless You All. Ameen!
