Azadari in Melbourne was the first Shia community step towards creating an awareness and presence
with in the wider Victorian community by quite simply "being who we are and doing what we do."
It is our belief that Azadari is what binds us together as a community and keeps us close to Islam and
even more than that, Azadari is the universal language which allows brothers and sisters from Pakistan, India,
Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Bosnia and more backgrounds to come together, to unite. Azadari and Islam
thus facilitates multiculturalism.
On the 22nd of January 2011, Azadars will come together at 11am in the Treasury Gardens of Melbourne
and then depart after Majlis in both Urdu and Arabic to form the jaloos (procession) and make our way to the
State Library of Victoria where speeches in English will be delivered.
