An Important Announcement from the Migration Heritage Centre

Dear Readers of Sada-e- Watan Sydney,

I am creating a collection of stories of migrants to Australia from South Asia originating from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Australia has experienced increasing migration from these countries since the 1960s, although older histories have established connections between South Asia and Australia through the shared history of British colonialism.

Interviews have been filmed in people's homes describing their stories of migration to Australia and settlement in Sydney. These have been added to the collection of oral histories on the NSW Migration Heritage Centre website. This is the link to the project

I would love to talk with some elderly (over 70 yrs if possible !) Pakistanis to capture your story of migration and settlement. You may have come through family reunion or earlier as a migrant yourself. It will basically  be about your expectations of coming here and your moment of arrival and what helps you to settle and be here in Australia.

Thanks for your help.

Warm Regards,
Vandana Kamini
