Saleem Sehgal, my classmate since 1968

Eulogy by Pervaiz Buttar, Solicitor

Mr. Saleem Sehgal with Mr. Justice Javed Buttar, other Judges and Lawyers

Mr. Saleem Sehgal, LL.M. (London), Barrister at Law of Walker, Saleem Martineaue Advocates of The Mall Lahore

As a lawyer I condemn the barbaric act of his murder and hope and pray that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to the book as soon as possible. He was gunned down in front of his house. The bench and the bar will always miss him.

My friend Saleem had a great sense of humour and was one of the busiest lawyers of Lahore. I was fortunate he came to Australia on two occasions and stayed for more than two months each along with his wife before his two children were born.

We have long associations, both professionally as well as social. Coincidently, the car he was driving struck the wall of a cemetery where my father is buried. He was a self made person and his father and his brother also belonged to the legal fraternity. It is a great loss to the profession, to me and my immediate family both in Pakistan and overseas. None of us six brothers and sisters living in different countries will ever be able to forget a person of his stature. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
