MUSLIM SCHOLAR APPEALS FOR EARTHQUAKE STRICKEN'S IN PAKISTAN
A Pakistani scholar has appealed to Australian people to denote generously in cash or kind for the earthquake stricken people in Pakistan. Allama Syed Razi Jaffar Naqvi who has been invited from Pakistan by Muhammadi Welfare Association of Australia Inc based in Granville NSW for the lectures about the holy month of Ramadan, has said that according to the latest news 30 thousands people have been killed (latest news said that the number might double) and more than 40 thousand have been injured by the earthquake of the 8th of October which had shaken whole of Pakistan. The earthquake, which was 7.5 on the rickers scale, had never occurred in Sub Continent for centuries. Several villages have been completely wiped out. Thousands of people are still alive under the rubble, which is being removed by the Pakistani and other International agencies. After his routine Ramadan lecture last night, Mr Naqvi prayed for the people who have died of the disastrous earthquake. He stressed that every bit counts. He asked the people to open their hearts and extend maximum co-operation with the fund raising institutions in Australia and overseas.
