Muhammadi Welfare Association organised a Multicultural Lunch
Muhammadi Welfare
Association has been organizing Eid lunches every year, some times in its centre
and at other times in different parks. Mostly the members and friends of the
association have been attending these lunches.
The present executive committee with Zawar Shah as its unopposed President and
Tahseen Zaidi as unopposed secretary has made a historical record of organizing
a rare type of Multicultural Eid Lunch. The hall and the play grounds of
Bankstown Girls High School were rented on the 5th of November, 2006. The
activities started quite early in the morning. Volley ball, soccer and cricket
matches were organized.
Teams comprised of people from different backgrounds. In volley the man of the
match was Mr. Ahmed Hamdy from Iraq. Honorable Laurie Ferguson Federal Member of
Parliament handed the trophy to Mr. Hamdy.
Zoharain prayer was performed in the Quad of the school. A big number of people
attended the prayer. Five Ulema from different backgrounds attended the prayer.
Up to the lunch time, there was huge number of people. Representatives of 13
Islamic organizations were present in the lunch. Beside other delicacies,
Biryani and typical Pakistani Kulfi were special item donated by Rajani
catering. The members of the executive committee must be thanked for their
extraordinary hard work and special monetary donation for the lunch.
After fun and recreation, sports and games, prayer and scrumptious lunch, the
last segment was prize distribution for sports and excellence in community work
and religious achievements. The sports and community excellence awards and
prizes were handed by Honorable Laurie Ferguson while Syed Mudarasi gave away
presents for religious achievements.
Zawar Shah, the president of the association had named and welcomed all Islamic
associates, ulema, politicians, media and the members of MWA while Secretary
Syed Tahseen Zaidi thanked all the participants at the end. The function was
equally enjoyed by men, women, boy and girls, old and young. The Kulfi was loved
by the people of non Pakistani background and ran out in short time. They were
promised to be provided abundantly next year Inshallah.
