Muhammadi welfare association of
Australia has been the first religious and cultural association of Urdu speaking
people in this continent. It was founded in July, 1989 in Sydney. Since then its
elections for the management committee per constitution had been taking place
after every two years on regular basis. Year 2006 proved to be a historical and
unique year because its management committee consisting of seven people and
three trustees assumed their office unopposed.
Dr Syed Muhammed Abbas Rivi, the appointed election commissioner had announced
that the election would be held on the 30th of September.2006 but on the day he
made the historical announcement that since no other candidates had filed the
papers, following people would take the office unopposed.
