PAA Delegation Meets Premier NSW Nathan Reece at Parliament House
A delegation of the Pakistan
Association of Australia attended Visakhi at the NSW Parliament on 6 May 2009
arranged by the Punjabi Council of Australia. Premier NSW Honorable Nathan Reece
was the chief guest, among other dignitaries Honorable Barry O’Feral Leader of
the opposition, Hon John Aquelina Leader of the House, Hon Virginia Judge
Minister for Fair Trade, Hon Paul Lynch Minster for Ageing, Hon Paul Gibbson,
Hon Andrew Fraser leader of the NSW National Party and Consul general of India
addressed the gathering of approximately 100 people.
This is 3rd consecutive years, the Pakistan Association was invited in the
Visakhi function in the NSW Parliament. Premier of NSW praised the Australian
Sikh community and their positive roll in the contribution along with other
guest speakers. Mr. Ejaz Khan President of PAA thanked the Sikh community for
their strong friendship with Pakistani community and providing opportunity to
address the guests. Ejaz Khan also commends the Premier appeasement to the Sikh
community and Punjabi council.
Visiting Pakistani Singer Mehmooda Qamar sang a melodious Late Noor Jehan song
“Sun vangli the mithri tan” which was highly commended by the crowd. Punjabi
Council awarded her a shield for her memories. PAA thanked the Punjabi Council
for their recognition of Pakistani singer and lasting friendship with the
Pakistan community.
