Pakistan Day Celebration in Wellington

The 68th National
Day of Pakistan is celebrated with traditional fervor in New Zealand. High
Commissioner for Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Munawar Saeed Bhatti, hosted the National
Day Reception to mark the event. Honorable Chris Carter, Minister of Education
and Ethnic Affairs represented the Government of New Zealand and Mr. John Hayes,
Member Parliament (National Party) represented the Opposition. The reception was
attended by a large number of dignitaries including parliamentarians,
businessmen, media personalities and diplomats. Members of Pakistani community
also attended in large number.
A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery. Members of Pakistani
community living in Wellington and adjoining areas attended the ceremony. A
large number of young students especially came to witness the flag hoisting
ceremony.
