Multicultural Eid Festival & Fair (MEFF)

The popular Sydney's annual Multicultural Eid Festival & Fair (MEFF) will be held on Sunday 12 October 2008 at the Fairfield Showground, Sydney, Australia. MEFF is a showcase of Islamic unity in diversity, Australian multiculturalism in action, a big family event, largest gathering of Muslims in the southern hemisphere, attracting around 30,000 people, Muslims and non-Muslims, men, women and children of multicultural background joined by federal, state and local politicians, community leaders, imams and all in a friendly Islamic atmosphere of peace, unity and enjoyment. The annual MEFF festival has been regularly held for the last 23 years after the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr at the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

Festivities

On Sunday the Fairfield Showground will be turned into a multicultural market place with over 130 stalls selling a huge variety of delicious food, clothing, jewelry, Islamic books, audio, video discs and computer software, toys, show bags and all. There will be over 25 rides for small as well as big kids, some of them very new ones, new variety of cultural programs, martial arts displays, drama, songs, folk dances, HSC and community awards, Congregation prayers in thousands, Big Screen display and other festivities.

The festival is organised by the Australian MEFF Consortium Incorporated with its executive committee of 28 people and a large team of almost 100 volunteers in a spirit of cooperation. The festival is sponsored by Fairfield City Council, Western Union, Human Appeal International together with Islamic Foundation for Education & Welfare (IFEW).
The Festival is On, rain, hail or shine. Undercover facilities for thousands. All Welcome. Bring your family & Friends, all, Muslims or Non-Muslims.

Admission: Single $5; Family $15 (2 adults + 3 children under 12). Plenty of Free Parking.
