Message from the Foreign Minister of Pakistan on the
Opening of High Commission for Pakistan in New Zealand

I am pleased to learn that Foreign Minister Rt. Hon. Winston Peters would be inaugurating formal opening of High Commission for Pakistan in Wellington on 22 November, 2006. The opening of the resident High Commission is a sequel to the visit of President General Pervez Musharraf to New Zealand in June 2005.
Pakistan and New Zealand
enjoy cordial and friendly relations. The two countries have great potential for
closer interaction in economic, commercial, agricultural, scientific and
educational fields. Currently, we are in the process of sending 200 students for
Post-graduate and Doctoral studies in various New Zealand universities.
I am confident that the new High Commission would act as a catalyst to further
strengthen and expand existing political, economic and commercial relations
between the two friendly countries.
