Pakistan Association’s Eid Milan
Party at Parliament House NSW

Eid Milan party to commemorate Eid-ul Fitr was celebrated by the Pakistani
community on Wednesday, 23rd of September in the NSW Parliament under the
auspices of Pakistan Association of Australia. This is annual event celebrated
every year, since former President of PAA Ejaz Khan set this tradition four
years ago. The purpose to celebrate this function in the Parliament House is to
demonstrate inter faith harmony between various communities of Australia. This
program was hosted by Barbara Perry, Minister for the Local Government of New
South Wales.
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Gulzar followed
by the translation in English. Then Mr. Naseer Taseer MC briefed the audience on
the PAA role and its achievements for Pakistani community in historical
background. The young courageous and intelligent children Aurangzeb Rana,
Mehwish Khan, and Javeria Jamal highlight the religious and social importance of
the month of Ramadan, and the benefits of this holy month for the Muslim Umah.
Mr. Iftikhar Rana President PAA formally welcomed the dignitaries and guests and
thanked everyone who came to celebrate this important event. Depicting the
importance of this month of Ramadan, he emphasized importance of human life and
dignity enunciated by Islam.In his key note address Iftikhar Rana requested the
audience to observe one minute silence for those millions of poor and down
trodden people of the world, who sleep hungry and thirsty, And for those
unfortunate victims of war and natural calamity.
The guest speakers also spoke on this occasion, and every one emphasized the
continuity of the Holy Month of Ramadan beyond Thirty days to reap the real
benefits of life.

The Honorable Phillip Costa minister for water, The Honorable Michael Daley
Minister for Police.
Honorable Barbara Perry (Minister for Local Government) thanked all the guests
and praised PAA executive committee to have organized this Eid Milan Party and
continued the tradition of this get together and understanding between various
communities and faiths of Australia. Mr. Ejaz khan former president of PAA also
addressed the gathering.
It is worth noting that 5 Ministers of the NSW Premier cabinet and Members of
Upper and Lower House of the Parliament attended and acknowledged contribution
of the Pakistan Community. Significantly Matt Thistlethwaite General Secretary
Australian Labor Party NSW and Sam Dastyari State Organiser participated and
recognized Pakistani community contribution to the Labor Cause. It was
acknowledged that the Pakistani community is traditionally Labor voters and
Labor Party regards the community very high.
Among other significant guests Mr Deepak Khadka Honorary Consul General of
Nepal, Erin Chew Vice President of Chinese Association, Harish Velgi Transport
Workers Union, Salina Sadiq famous Criminal Lawyer, Mr.Paul Stevens, State
Managerof NSW for 7- Eleven Stores,Shayne Howarth Senior Franchise Manager of
7-Eleven Stores NSW, Syed Zafar Hussain from Sada-E- Watan, Dr Akram Hassan,
Nadeem Jaffer General Manager PIA, Muhammad Asif CEO CitiLink Finanace & Ejaz
Ahmad former Consul General of Pakistan to Sydney.
PAA presented awards to various recipients of their outstanding contributions to
the PAA. The distribution of award was followed by the melodious song by Mahreen
Javed, and everyone was amused by her performance. At the end guests were
offered the refreshment and opportunity to intermingle with each other and have
an exchange of ideas.
